Membership Rules
- We are an ALL ELECTRIC R/C flying club.
- Dues are from January 1 to December 31 and are set at $75.00 payable before January 1st of each year and are pro-ratable by the quarter.
- Membership in the AMA and following their safety rules is a prerequisite of membership.
- Visitors are welcome to watch, but must be supervised carefully by all members who are at the field. All club and field rules must be maintained at all times by everyone.
- Guests of a member are welcome to fly if they have a current AMA card, but they cannot fly as a guest more than two times. It is the guest member’s responsibility to monitor their guest’s frequency at all times, for conflicting frequency before their transmitter can be turned on. Current members have first rights to flying if any conflicting frequency occurs.
- We have adopted the “own your own frequency” control system. Each member has an assigned frequency that they own and no other member shall be assigned that frequency.
- Our treasurer Ernie Paredes assigns all frequencies.
- Due to the “own your own frequency” control system and the size of the flying field we have limited the number of members to 40.
- Some “original members” have more than one frequency assigned to them. There may be a time in the future when we will require an original member who has more than one frequency to give up the extra frequency.
- It is the responsibility of “original members”, who have conflicting frequency numbers with other “original members” that for some reason can not change to monitor each other’s use of the common frequency.
- We have adopted a “trainer system” for the supervision of new club members to insure that all club and field rules are maintained.
- Beginning flyers and those still having some difficulty must have an “instructor” assigned to help prevent a “flyaway” or an accident. We have several members who are designated “flight instructor” and “chief test pilot” and it is the responsibility of all to see that this rule is enforced.
- Saturdays and Wednesdays are the most popular days, but you can fly on any day. We do have a safety rule that nobody is allowed to fly alone.
- Violation of any club rules may result in termination of membership. Unbecoming conduct, in the opinion of the executive committee, is also cause for termination.

Field Rules
- The field is in Parish FL. The field is owned by our member, Fred Rimer and the legal address is: 15116
SR 62, Parrish, FL 34219. It is located north and behind
the property located at 15150 SR 62, Parrish, FL 34219.
- Only electric motored planes, gliders, and helicopters shall be allowed at the
field.
- The field has a “key pad” locking system
on the gate. Each member has been assigned their own unique
number, which will automatically open and close the gate.
Each member must keep their number confidential; we need
to prevent unauthorized people having access to the field.
- All parking shall be in designated areas only:
- RESERVED. The three spaces to the south of our covered area are to be reserved for members designated by the property owner, Fred Rimer. These spaces may change for various events, such as bringing in food or handicap parking.
- PILOTS. These areas are directly south and running
parallel to the runway east of our covered area. Pilots
should park first, facing the fence separating our
field from our neighbor’s house on the south,
and when that area is filled, and then facing north
along the 4-inch pipe. This pipe is there to help
prevent planes from going off the runway and under
cars or planes sitting on the ground. No parking is
permitted anywhere else on the field.
- The covered area is for pilots to sit and visit and
watch the planes that are in the air flying.
- Planes that are not flying are to be kept in the following
areas:
- All planes that have crashed or are not going to
be flown soon are to be kept near your cars.
- A limited number of planes that are ready to fly
can be kept in the area, which is between the white
pipe and in front of the covered area. Only a few
planes can park in this area since this is the area
in which the pilots will walk from the covered area
to the “take off” area.
- Planes that are being repaired or are having trouble
with some part can be placed on the “repair
tables” under the covered area.
- All pilots that have planes flying must stand in area behind the white pipe and to the west of the shed.
The reason for this rule is so that all pilots that have
planes in the air can hear the intentions of other pilots,
i.e. “taking off, landing, dead stick” etc.
For those pilots that must sit on a chair or stool to
fly are to be between the white pipe and the front of
the shed. There is NO exception to this rule as to where
pilots with planes flying are to be positioned.
- Pilots crossing the runway, approach, or run off areas
to retrieve an airplane must alert other pilots that are
flying of their intention however, no one is allowed on
the runway at any time a plane is landing or taking off.
- Only pilots, and/or instructors or co-pilots, flying
are permitted on the runway. All other people need to
remain in the covered area or in the vehicle parking area
and off the active runway for obvious safety reasons.
Pilots who bring small children or grandkids must keep
them well supervised and with them at all times.
- There is electric at the shed and in the covered area.
You are encouraged to invest in a converter to change
AC to DC current for the charging of your batteries at
the field.
- When flying, remember to keep your plane in the field’s
airspace. The neighbor directly to the east is friendly,
however, his fence is always electrically charged –
and our other fences may be electrically charged from
time to time. However, it is acknowledged that members
are not to damage the fences getting into the property,
and that members enter at their own risk, and should be
extremely cautious because bulls may be present.
- There is a large tree on Fred’s property north west
of our field. There should be no reason for any plane to
land in that tree, however if it does you are NOT permitted
to climb it. We do however have some tools etc to help retrieve
any plane that does land there.
- Club will provide and maintain general liability insurance
suitable to Fred Rimer (property owner).
- As a member of Sarasota Silent Flyers, it is expressly
understood and agreed to by all members, past and present,
including any of their guests, and all visitors that they
will hold harmless Flying E Ranch, Inc. and its owners
from any liability incurred by them, including any attorney
fees and any other costs incurred.
- There may be times when the field needs to be closed
for one reason or another. Members will be notified and
are expected to honor the closing.
- Trash shall not be left at the field.
- Alcoholic drinks (BYOB) are permitted at the field when
there is a “party” and should not be consumed
by any one if there is flying going on at the field. This
privilege may be revoked if it is abused.
- Each member is asked to keep a watchful eye on the property,
and if they see anything that does not look right, they
should call Fred Rimer immediately at 941-545-5364.
